Nuwara Eliya – Six Region – 75g Loose Tea | USD 4.77/Unit
Nuwara Eliya – Delicately Fragrant | OP
Inaccessible due to the precipitous, jungle-clad terrain surrounding it, Nuwara Eliya’s scenic plateau was uninhabited when discovered by a hunting party of British officers led by the famed Dr. John Davy in 1818. Impressed by its magnificent scenery and climate, the British Governor of the time Sir Edward Barnes pioneered this mini English country town.
The tea that originates from this hilly terrain has a mystical and refined flavour that is distinct to NuwaraEliya. High altitudes and consistent low temperatures produce a very slow-growing bush with unusually small leaves that take on an orange hue – the most sought after whole leaf tea in the world: Orange Pekoe.
When infused, the leaf acquires a unique greenish-yellow tone. With its subtle golden hue and delicately fragrant bouquet, this infusion is the palest among all the regional varieties of Ceylon Tea.
